Maxime Chabloz

Tandem Pilot with a Sense for Wind and Snow

Maxime has always been drawn to sports shaped by wind and movement. He has been kiteboarding for around 15 years and started paragliding in 2020. The transition came naturally: years of kiteboarding had already sharpened his sense for the wind and for handling a wing.

Outdoors – Combining the Best of Both Worlds

Snow is Maxime’s second element. He prefers open terrain to groomed pistes and likes finding his own line – especially when skiing and flying can be combined. Flying home after a day on the slopes? Exactly his kind of thing.

One day in particular stands out. Maxime and a friend took off from grass with their skis strapped to their backs, then used the thermals to fly all the way up to a snow-covered summit. From there, they skied back down into the valley.

His titles show just how versatile he is at the highest level: he won the Freeride World Tour in 2022 and became Kite Freestyle World Champion in 2024.

The Nerves Stay on the Ground

What Maxime enjoys most about tandem flying is sharing his love of flying with others. Many guests are a little nervous before take-off – only to tell him after landing that the tension disappeared within the first few moments in the air.

Maxime particularly enjoys flying in Engelberg and Brunni, as well as Klewenalp and Niederbauen. When he is not flying tandem passengers, you may find him back on the Freeride World Tour.
